Stephen Colbert is Officially Running For President?!

The Colbert Report“I am proud to announce that I am forming an exploratory committee to lay the groundwork for my possible candidacy for president of the United States of South Carolina,” Colbert said. “This is a difficult decision. I’ve talked it over with my money. I’ve talked it over with my spiritual adviser.”
“Clearly my fellow South Caroliniacs see me as the only Mitternative,” Colbert said.
While the excitement was surely palpable (heck if I know, I wasn’t there to taste the air in the room and in reality excitement has no flavor – it’s not like Tapatio for Christ’s sake), the sad fact is that it is highly unlikely that Mr. Colbert will be able to make a run for president of South Carolina or America.
As HuffPo explains: “Colbert missed the November 1 filing deadline to get his name on the GOP primary ballot in South Carolina, and according to the South Carolina Election Commission, there’s no write-in space on the electronic and paper primary ballots.”
So no do-overs this time. Unless, maybe he could murder somebody, get a job at Haley Barbour’s governor’s mansion and then, you know, “you scratch my back, I’ll stab yours,” a few political favors later and he’s the President of Mississippi!
